Hot News: Hammersmith & Fulham Buildings Consultation

This is of crucial importance to all Third Sector Organisations based in Council owned buildings around the borough. LBHF are consulting on this issue and we urge you to take part as soon as possible. The following is an Exerpt of letter from Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh, Leader of the Council:

...I am therefore seeking your views on our decision to consider whether nine council buildings, that are either underused or provide poor value for money, could be sold.

Reducing our debt means selling assets that do not currently provide value for money. We plan to dispose of buildings we no longer need, or where services could be better and more cost-effectively delivered from alternative sites. If these proposals go ahead, we would use the proceeds from these sales to cut our debts and to protect spending on vital front line services such as home care for the elderly, child protection and voluntary sector grants...

More information:

The Local Authority infrastructure survey “Change Up” (2007) identified premises for the Voluntary and Community Sector as a key issue. In Hammersmith and Fulham, high rents make it difficult for start-up organisations to afford initial premises and established organisations to expand.

We aim to match local organisations seeking accommodation to available office space, from organisations wishing to move from an ’office’ in their home to more formal start-up offices, those seeking to expand operations, to those looking to downsize.

Palingswick House introduces the HOT OFFICE

Following enquiries from organisations with low income for office space Palingswick House Trustees have developed a sessional office letting. There are two hot offices and two small studios available for sessional hire. This provides the opportunity for hiring an office, rather than just a desk, up to eight sessions a week, each session lasting four hours.

Sessions:

Full external billing address and email must be provided.

All sessions are subject to availability and may only be booked one month at a time to give as many people a chance to book.

Some file storage is available. Organisations wishing to use the available storage in the Hot office must ensure they have insurance for the items stored.

Clients using the desktop computer provided in the hot office must provide their own removable disk drive to safeguard their data.
